Fasting Why do we fast?

1. As an aid in prayer Esther 4:16 says,”Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me.”
2. As a sign of grief or mourning Nehemiah 1:4 says,” I sat down and wept. For some days i mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven” 3. As a sign of repentance and seeking forgiveness for sin.
4. As an experience of the pressure of God that results in the endorsement of his messenger. Exodus 34:28 .
5. As an act id ceremonial public worship Lev 16:29

Faith is the key. What is faith?
Heb 11:1 says, “Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” Heb 11?6 says, “without faith, its impossible to please God.”
Mark 4:35-41 says “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Job 13:15 says Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.
Phil 4:6 says Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Romans 8 says, nothing can separate us from the love of God.

Fasting — Humbling yourself Ps 35:13 says Yet when they were Ill, I put on sackcloth and humbled myself with fasting. Ezra 8:21 says Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God.
What do u do when you fast?
2Chron 7:14 says If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven.
