How do we make sense of the pain we face in our lives?

  1. Pain causes us to withdraw
    An Opportune time
    Mark 6:31-32
    Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.
  2. Draws in the presence of God
    Psalm 54:18
    The Kord is near to the broken hearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
  3. Draws us to the Word
    If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished
    Psalms 119;92
  4. Opens our ears
    But I have stilled and quoted MU souls; like a weaned child with its mother
    Psalms 131:1-3
  5. We experience the comfort of God.
    2Cor says Greater suffering, greates the Comfort.
    Divine comfort
    2 Cor 1:3-11
    For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
  6. Empathise with others
    We are able to grieve with others.
    We become easier ti be with, less harsh, less critical, more understanding
  7. Causes us to need one another
  8. We recognise God is sovereign
    Psalms 115:3 says Our God is in the Heavens, He does all that He pleases.
  9. Helps us recognise our weakness. We are not in control
  10. Keeps us constantly at the feet of God
  11. Creates in us a longing (hope) for our Eternal Home
    Romans 5:2-5
  12. Reminder of this fallen world
    Romans 8:18-23
  13. We grieve along with God about the devastation of sin
  14. We are forced to deal with our root issues(iniquity)
    Phillipians 2:12-13
  15. Causes us to experience the miraculous
  16. Makes us grateful for what we already have and enjoy
  17. Pain brings wisdom
  18. Pain gives us direction
    God often uses our deepest pai. As the launching pad id our greatest calling.
  19. Builds faith
  20. Pain is God’s megaphone
